Stone County Booking Photo Records
A mugshot is the photograph made during a booking process. It documents appearance at that event. It does not show guilt, innocence, a later disposition, present appearance, or current location. Release from the Stone County Detention Center also does not erase the booking event by itself. A photo match should still be tied to the right record. Common names can recur. Compare the booking number, middle name or suffix, booking date, charge context, and photograph before deciding that two records concern the same person.
Stone County's Brief Released Mugshots
The Stone County Sheriff's Office provides a distinctive official photo route. Its 48-hour released roster places a booking photograph next to the displayed name, booking number, release date and time, booking date and time, charges, bond amount, and a profile link. A public booking profile can contain a larger image and booking-specific details.
That public item is temporary. The roster advertises a rolling 48-hour period, not a permanent photo archive. Sorting oldest or newest changes order but does not extend retention. Name search examines what the interface currently exposes. An absent photo can mean the event has aged out, the name differs, the item has not posted, or a record restriction applies.
The sheriff disclaims certification of the live information, and no standard release-reason or destination field appears in the list. Charges and bond are booking data that can change after court action. The image therefore documents the booking, while the release timestamp documents the end of that Stone County jail stay. Neither proves the final case result.

Request a Stone County Booking Photo
After the roster item expires, use the sheriff's online Record Request Form or write to the Custodian of Records. Ask for “the booking photograph associated with booking number” rather than all mugshots under a name. That wording identifies one transaction and reduces the chance of receiving the wrong person's image.
- Gather the full name, date of birth if known, booking number, and approximate booking and release dates.
- Ask whether the booking image exists, what format is available, and whether the public copy differs from the original file.
- Request email delivery when suitable. The form also offers mail and in-person pickup.
- Ask for a cost estimate and likely response date before assuming the general report-copy terms apply to a photograph.
- If part or all of the image is withheld, request the segregable public portion and a written citation for the legal basis.
- Match the delivered image and record to the booking number before using it to identify the event.
The current form lists records@stonecountymo.gov, 110 South Maple, PO Box 245, Galena, Missouri 65656, phone 417-357-6116, and fax 417-212-5848. It asks for requester contact details, delivery choice, report number if known, incident date, relationship, description, copy count, and typed signature.
An older sheriff procedure lists $5 for a report copy and a three-business-day mailing target for a closed report. That does not establish a fixed photo price or delivery time. Section 610.023 requires action by the end of the third business day, but the office may explain why production needs longer and give the earliest access date. Section 610.026 permits applicable copying, staff, research, and medium costs. Ask first.
Note: The form's instruction to call after no response in 24 hours is a follow-up rule, not a production promise.
Missouri Registry Photo Limits
The Missouri State Highway Patrol registry is an official photo source only for people with a public registration duty.
The interface supports focused registry searches, but its result does not supply a complete Stone County custody history or prove when the jail released someone.
Section 589.417 controls public dissemination of specified registry details, including covered photographs. Most people released from jail have no registration duty. A missing registry result therefore says nothing about whether a person was booked, photographed, or released. Use the sheriff record for the local booking image and the registry only for its statutory purpose.
Stone County Released Photo Alerts
No official Stone County sheriff inmate app was identified in the agency navigation or researched sources. The sheriff site is mobile-accessible. It also offers email and SMS alerts for newly posted website items and links to press and social channels. Those tools are general publication channels, not a searchable permanent booking-photo store.
General alerts are also not person-specific custody notices. Missouri uses MOVANS through VINELink for custody notification from participating agencies. A VINE notice concerns status reported by an agency and is not a booking-photo source. Confirm a release with the Stone County jail, and use the sheriff roster or records request for the local image.
Official sheriff press releases may sometimes include a photograph when it is relevant to a published event. Local news may also reproduce an agency image. Neither category provides a full list of released people. A news image can be old, cropped, or detached from a later court result, so trace it back to an official caption or booking record.
Copied Stone County Mugshot Pages
Commercial mugshot publishers, data brokers, aggregators, and copied archives may retain a Stone County image after it leaves the sheriff's roster. Their presence does not prove that the official record is still open, that the caption is current, or that the person remains in custody. No such source should replace the sheriff, court, or MODOC record.
Do not use a copied image to evade a seal, expungement order, juvenile restriction, or other closure. When an official source no longer displays the photo, ask the records custodian whether the image exists and whether access is restricted. Missouri's Mugshot Payment Ban
Missouri section 407.1150 defines booking photographs and criminal-record information and bars a publisher or disseminator from soliciting or accepting payment from the depicted person to remove, correct, or modify that material.
The official statute supplies the legal rule, while the Stone County sheriff's actual practice remains a short photo-bearing released roster followed by the records-request route.
The law makes a knowing and willful violation a class A misdemeanor and provides remedies. It does not force the sheriff to publish every photo. It does not declare each image permanently open, create an automatic free-removal right, or guarantee that a lawfully published image must be erased. Do not pay or endorse a commercial removal service. Use the official record holder and any valid court order.
When Stone County Mugshots Are Expunged
Missouri expungement is a petition process under section 610.140. The Missouri State Public Defender’s expungement overview offers an official plain-language starting point.
